I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH CLOTHES TO DRESS ALL THE PEOPLE I’VE BECOME
From a future designer’s perspective, this collection is the result of an investigation on the industry behind the fashion world. In modern day society, when people think of buying new outfits, they often go to large global clothing retailers. In this sense, a large part of the public nowadays does not expect or even consider owning expensive pieces of clothing that last a lifetime. For Louis, growing up surrounded by fast fashion big players had the effect that he was never confronted with artisanal or bespoke clothing, even though he always had a wide variety of apparel. Now being a fashion student, he has been able to observe and analyze this phenomenon from a different point of view. By understanding and learning about haute couture and artisanal techniques, it is no surprise that his view on fast fashion retailers definitely changed. Nevertheless, This has not made him feel less attached to their clothing as they are part of his memories and of his first impressions on the fashion world.
