TRANSGRESSION
We live in a time of change, of transgression, of challenging boundaries. Are boundaries necessary? What happens when you go beyond, and is it possible to create new shapes developed as a step beyond the old ones? Transgression may lead to the emergence of new types of organisms, cultures, thinking. Challenging the boundaries and coming back allows us to rethink reality and evolve. Irina derives her inspiration from biological structures in the microcosm (cells) and the macrocosm (populations). They both share general patterns: substances move across the cell’s border in a way that is similar to how human populations resettle. Going at the core of this process is what constitutes the basic element of her collection.
