FOOTWEAR PLAYGROUND

This collection wants to renegotiate entirely therelationship between foot and footwear. The purpose is to create an experience through design elements researched from children’s playgrounds. The initial inspiration came from the work of sculptor Alexander Calder who inspired Bingqing to work on the concept of balance and imbalance. Her research developed into the idea of the rocking chair and how the rocking movement constantly challenges our balancing point. This investigation led her to apply the same kind of concept to shows, coming up with pieces which take the wearer in a radically different footwear world where the focus is all in finding the balance point and changing our normal conception of what wearing a shoe means.
