Shie’s approach aims at a precise fusion of traditional and modern to create a futuristic elegance. For this collection she applied traditional couture techniques to unexpected materials such as recycled silicone tubes, molded sculptural perspex, nylon horsehair and heat-shrinking rubber tubings achieving futuristic-looking textiles and silhouettes. With a background in finance dealing with data and mathematical models before turning to fashion design, hers are meticulous constructions and textiles which evoke technophilia as an exercise in precision.
